Self Build – Peterborough

This traditionally built self-build house in Peterborough has incorporated Lewis Deck throughout the first floor.

The installation of the Cemfloor screed at this project brought the end of a 12 month period of working alongside the owner of this self-build property.

We were initially contact back in September 2024 when Kevin got in touch requesting a quotation for our Lewis Deck system after first seeing us online on our website. After an initial webchat we’d supplied a quote to him within an hour based on his requirements. His initial build process went well and by the end of 2024 we were asked to to provide a pro-forma for the materials needed and in the last week of January 2025 Kevin had his order delivered from us from our warehouse in Co. Durham.

We received these installation photos in early June showing that the resilient strips and Lewis Deck had been installed and in Kevin’s words it went down “well”. As you can see from the photos he has then laid down timber in the non-loadbearing walls locations to mark out for the underfloor heating pipes.

By installing the pipes and the screed before installing the non-loadbearing walls you are able to put the walls where you want and have possible late wall location changes. Because of the way Lewis Deck works you do not need to sit walls directly over a joist below and you also don’t need to double up your joists in places where walls are going to be located saving time, money and effort.

The installation of the Lewis Deck system was easy and it went down very well. I was unsure of the how the screed pour would go however my worries were unfounded as not a drip of screed came through the joints in the steel deck. I couldn't have been happier with the way everything went.

The underfloor heating pipes were installed shortly after the Lewis Deck was fully installed and by late August the floor was ready to be screeded. Cemfloor was chosen because of its benefits when used with Lewis Deck and the 110m2 of first floor area was poured in approx. 1 hour.

In Kevin’s words “not a drip of screed came through the joints in the steel deck” which was one his main concerns. His screeders. Cemflo from Peterborough, were also delighted with the way the installation went and were looking forward to being able to work on the Lewis Deck system again.

Ask CDI a Question

  • Q

What are the Lewis Deck sheet sizes?

    A

Q: What sheet sizes are held in stock for delivery within a few days after order? A: We stock 2500mm and 1300mm sheets.  These are all 630mm wide and 16mm deep.  Deliveries are made via the pallet network directly to site.  The smaller sheets are aimed at small bathroom renovation projects and can be supplied in small numbers via TNT. 2.5* and 1.3m sheets allow for the 100mm overlap to occur over a joist, with joist centres being either 300mm, 400mm, 600mm, 800mm*, 1200mm and 2400mm*. (*2.5m sheet only) For larger projects we are able to produce bespoke sheet sizes if required, please get in contact to discuss other options for sheet sizes.

  • Q

Why don't my Lewis sheets interlock like they do in the video?

    A

Q: Why don't my sheets interlock like they do in the video? A: The sheets have two sides (one printed, one plain), the dovetails on either side are different widths, it is then necessary to alternate the sheets print up and then print down.

    Q

    Is this a question?

    A

If it is, this is an answer.
