“Thanks again and also for the advice early doors – your product went like a dream and the upper floor construction was spot on” Paul M.
From the photos, the typical installation can be seen. The Lewis Deck is installed on top of the timber and metal web joists (often known as “Posi” or “Easy” Joists). The Deck then acts as the safe working platform for as long as is necessary and will cope with what the Great British weather has to throw at it. The underfloor heating pipes are then installed on top of the deck using clip-rail and P-clips and secured down using short self-drilling screws. These pipes are installed in zones in exactly the same way as the ground floor with the walls being marked out on the deck with paint prior to the installation, in deed, they are the same pipes as used down stairs.
As these pipes will be in the same screed as used on the ground floor they are laid with the same centres and the performance will be the same.
Once both floors are ready for screed, the screeder can pay one visit and pump both the upstairs and downstairs. Once the screed has cured, the internal non-loadbearing walls can be installed on top of the screed.
This is a very simple and straight forward process and if the self-builder is looking to take on any part of the build themselves, the Lewis Deck installation is definitely something that they will be able to do!
